By plugging in Apple’s Camera Connection Kit (CCK) to your iPad, you can ingest (import) photos from your SD card or camera through USB cable, to your iPad.
Start by plugging in the CCK into the iPad’s dock connector. After you make the connection, your iPad automatically opens the Photos.app, which lets you choose which photos and videos to import. Apple forces the use of Photos.app for import; photos may not be imported directly into a third-party app like Photosmith.
Choose the photos you want to import in Photo.app, then import them. Once the import is complete, switch to Photosmith.
In Photosmith, make sure you're in Catalog Mode, then tap the Import button. This launches the import dialog box, from which you can select an iPad album and individual photos to import.
Remember, you cannot import from the CCK right into Photosmith - you must use Apple's Photos.app as a go-between.
The import process is described in greater detail, with pretty screenshots, in Section 220.127.116.11 of our User Guide.
